ACC appeals against HC order to reinstate sacked official Sharif Uddin
Sharif’s lawyer Barrister Salahuddin Dolon said the appeal may be heard in the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division this week

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed an appeal seeking a stay on the High Court's order that directed the reinstatement of its dismissed official, Md Sharif Uddin.
Confirming the development today (30 August), Sharif's lawyer Barrister Salahuddin Dolon said the appeal may be heard in the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division this week.
ACC's appeal has stalled Sharif's reinstatement process, and the outcome will depend on the decision of the higher court, his lawyer said.
Sharif Uddin, known for investigating high-profile corruption cases, was dismissed on 16 February 2022 without any explanation.
Just a month later, on 13 March, he filed a writ petition challenging the legality of Rule 54(2) of the ACC Employee Rules, which allows termination without stating any reason. He also sought reinstatement.
On 9 July this year, the High Court declared Sharif's dismissal from his post as deputy assistant director illegal and unconstitutional, ordering his reinstatement with all due salary and benefits.
The full 19-page verdict was recently released by the relevant branch of the Supreme Court's High Court Division, directing the ACC to return him to service within 30 days.
