Titas moves to the Appellate Division seeking a stay on the HC compensation order
The Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd filed a leave to appeal petition on Sunday at the Appellate Division seeking a stay on compensation to Narayanganj mosque blast victims.
"We have filed a leave to appeal petition at the chamber judge of the Supreme Court against the High Court (HC) order to give Tk5 lakh compensation to each family of the victims who died and suffered injuries in the Narayanganj mosque blast," Titas's lawyer Barrister Misbahur Rahman told the press.
Appellate Division Chamber Judge Justice MdNuruzzaman's court will hold the hearing.

On September 9, the HC in a writ hearing directed Titas Gas to give Tk5 lakh as initial compensation in seven days to each family of the blast victims.
Titas Gas Ltd will give the money to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Narayanganj and the DC will distribute it to the 37 victims' families, the HC said. The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why it should not be directed to give Tk50 lakh to each family.
Secretary to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the home secretary, the Narayanganj mayor, managing director of Titas, Rajuk, DPDC, Narayanganj DC and SP, the mosque committee and others concerned have been asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Supreme Court lawyer and a resident of Narayanganj Mar-um Khondaker submitted the writ petition as a public interest litigation at the HC on September 7.
The blast took place at the mosque in Narayanganj's Fatullah area during Isha prayers on September 4, leaving 38 people injured. Of them, 31 have succumbed to injuries so far.
