Titas Gas dismantles illegal connections
Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Ltd said its drives to identify and remove illegal gas use are ongoing, with magistrates from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and Titas enforcement teams recently carrying out large-scale disconnections in Narayanganj.
Titas said criminal networks involved in illicit hookups have shifted their base to the Mymensingh area. Acting on this, a team on 26 October, 2025 found two illegal service tees installed to tap a 6-inch × 1000 psig transmission pipeline at Shambhuganj, Mymensingh, aimed at supplying an unauthorised lime factory. The tapping caused a gas leak.
Company officials and staff, with police support, immediately secured the site and detained 15 suspects, who were handed over to the local police station, where a case has been filed.
Titas reiterated zero tolerance on illegal connections, saying the eviction drives will continue and that all involved will face legal action.
