President accepts resignations of 2 HC judges
They had submitted their signed resignation letters to the president in accordance with Article 96(8) of the Constitution.
The president has accepted the resignations of two judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, according to separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Law today (23 February).
The notifications state that Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Naima Haider submitted their signed resignation letters to the president in accordance with Article 96(8) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, and the president has accepted them.
Earlier, on 2 February, Justice Mamnoon Rahman, who had been on leave for about a year, tendered his resignation citing personal reasons.
His resignation letter was sent to the president via email to the Supreme Court registrar general and the Ministry of Law. He submitted the letter from Canada.
Meanwhile, Justice Naima Haider submitted her resignation letter on 9 February.
On that day, Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md Shafiqul Islam said Justice Naima had expressed her intention to resign through a handwritten, signed letter dated 5 February, which was submitted to the president through the chief Justice.
