ICT orders removal of derogatory posts about judges from social media
The relevant ministries, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), and other concerned bodies have been instructed to implement the order.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has directed the authorities to remove all derogatory photographs and comments circulating on social media targeting judges over the verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and another accused for crimes against humanity.
The relevant ministries, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), and other concerned bodies have been instructed to implement the order.
Noting that various objectionable comments and posts regarding the tribunal, its judges, and its verdict have appeared across different platforms, the tribunal issued the suo motu (self-initiated) order today (23 November).
The order was passed by the three-member Tribunal-1 bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumder.
The other members of the tribunal are Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmood and retired district and sessions judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
