aThe High Court today (17 May) has dismissed a legal attempt to stall the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election, scheduled for 7 June, reiterating that it will not intervene in the governing body's internal election process.
The bench comprising Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury struck the petition off its cause list, effectively declining to proceed with the hearing.
Advocate Mohsin Rashid represented the petitioner during the proceedings, while Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal appeared for the state. Barrister Mahin M Rahman stood for the BCB.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Mahin M Rahman said the court clearly observed that it would not intervene in the BCB election under any circumstances.
The writ petition was filed by an individual named Mosharraf Hossain, who sought to halt the election process.
Meanwhile, a separate writ was filed yesterday (16 May), challenging the legality of the 11-member ad-hoc committee of the BCB led by former national team captain Tamim Iqbal.
The petition was submitted by 12 individuals, including several prominent figures in Bangladesh cricket such as Aminul Islam Bulbul, Faruk Ahmed and Khaled Masud Pilot.
