BCB forms 3-member commission for board of directors election
Adv Ahsanul Karim was appointed as the CEC
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has constituted a three-member Election Commission to oversee its Board of Directors Election 2026.
Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim has been appointed as the chief election commissioner while the other two members of the commission include – Md Israil Hawlader, police commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police and ABM Ehsanul Mamun, deputy secretary and director (Planning and Development) at the National Sports Council (NSC).
According to a BCB press release issued yesterday (13 May), the Election Commission will oversee and conduct all necessary procedures related to the Board of Directors Elections in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
Following a board meeting on 6 May, a final list of various associations, clubs and organisations has been prepared, from which the names of 192 councillors will be invited under three categories. The board will send letters to the respective associations, clubs and organisations requesting nominations for their councillors.
The deadline for submitting the names of councillors is 16 May.
The previous BCB board, led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, was dissolved by the NSC on 7 April following allegations of widespread irregularities during last year's 6 October elections. On the same day, the NSC formed an 11-member ad hoc committee, appointing former national captain Tamim Iqbal as its president.
