Hadi murder: Aminul confesses to helping shooter Faisal flee to India
He was produced before the court today (29 December) after his five-day remand
Md Aminul Islam alias Raju, an accused in the case filed over the murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, has confessed to court that he helped prime accused Faisal Karim Masud flee to neighbouring India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh.
After recording his confessional statement, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam ordered to send Aminul to jail, Prosecution division Sub-Inspector Rukonuzzaman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Aminul was produced before the court today (29 December) after his five-day remand. Since he voluntarily agreed to give a confessional statement, the investigating officer, Detective Police Motijheel Zonal Team Inspector Faisal Ahmed, applied for it to be recorded.
"For the sake of proper investigation of the case, it was deemed essential to record the statement of the accused under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure," reads the application.
Earlier, on 24 December, Aminul was arrested from the capital's Mirpur‑11 area. The following day, the court granted his five‑day remand.
So far, 11 people have been arrested in the case, of whom six have given confessional statements before the court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
