A court today placed former lawmaker from Khulna-6 constituency Rashiduzzaman on a four-day remand in two cases.

Senior Judicial Magistrate of Paikgachha Anwarul Islam passed the order as police produced Rashiduzzaman before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the cases.

Earlier on 16 October, a team of law enforcement agencies arrested Rashiduzzaman from Patuakhali.

Rubel Sarder, a local BNP leader, filed a case with Paikgachha Police Station on 29 August against several Awami League men, including Rashiduzzaman.

In the case, the plaintiff alleged that the AL men, led by Rashiduzzaman, went on a rampage on 9 October in 2020 and blasted bombs on 21 August at Zero Point area under Paikgachha and injured BNP men.

Besides, Eshita Anam Ritu, a student, lodged another case with Paikgachha Police Station on 21 August against 91 AL men, including the former lawmaker.
 
In the case, the plaintiff alleged that Rashiduzzaman along with his party men attacked an Anti-discrimination Student Movement procession in front of the Paikgachha Upazila Parishad on 4 August that left many students injured.
