Ex-MP Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin on 5-day remand in murder case
A Dhaka court has placed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker and Awami League leader Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin on a five-day remand in connection with the murder of trader Abdul Wadud in the capital's New Market area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order today after police produced Mohiuddin before the court and sought a 10-day remand for interrogation.
Earlier on the day, Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin was arrested from Monsurabad Housing Society in Mohammadpur.

Abdul Wadud was killed on 19 July 2024, near the first gate of New Market.
Following the incident, his relative, Abdur Rahman, filed a case on 21 August 2024, accusing 130 individuals. Among the accused were prominent political figures, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Anisul Huq, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Salman F Rahman.
