Ayaan's death after circumcision: Arrest warrants issued against 3 doctors
According to the case documents, Ayaan was taken to United Medical College Hospital for circumcision on 31 December, 2023. After receiving anaesthesia prior to the procedure, he never regained consciousness.
A Dhaka court today (5 February) issued arrest warrants against three doctors in connection with the death of five-year-old Ayaan Ahmed following a circumcision at United Medical College Hospital in the capital's Satarkul area.
The accused are surgeon Tasnuva Mahjabin, anaesthesia specialist Syed Sabbir Ahmed, and assistant anaesthesia specialist Md Nazim Uddin.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after accepting the formal charge submitted by police.
According to the case documents, Ayaan was taken to United Medical College Hospital for circumcision on 31 December, 2023. After receiving anaesthesia prior to the procedure, he never regained consciousness.
He remained on life support for seven days and died at the hospital on 8 January.
His father, Shamim Ahmed, filed the case with Badda Police Station on 9 January, 2024. Following an investigation, police submitted the formal charge today.
