Police recover child's body in Faridpur, 2 held for questioning
Preliminary information suggests the child might have died from injuries sustained while playing with another child
Police recovered the body of a nine-year-old girl from near a railway track in Faridpur's Nagarkanda Upazila last night (1 August), following her disappearance earlier in the evening.
Law enforcement retrieved the body of the child, Mahmuda, from beside a family graveyard near the railway line in Tarakandi village under Char Jashordi union at around 9:30pm.
She was the daughter of Idris Mollah, a resident of the village.

Police detained two individuals for interrogation as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to the victim's uncle, Mijanur Rahman, Mahmuda went missing after leaving her home at around 5pm yesterday.
After searching all potential locations without success, the family alerted locals, who subsequently informed the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, police conducted a search operation and recovered the child's body.
Mijanur alleged that his niece was murdered due to a long-standing monetary dispute with a local named Bablu Sheikh.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nagarkanda Circle) Mohammad Al Fahad stated that two individuals were taken into custody for questioning.
He added that preliminary information suggests the child might have died from injuries sustained while playing with another child.
However, the officer emphasised that police are thoroughly investigating whether any other cause or criminal involvement lies behind the death.
