Anisul, Salman and Dipu Moni shown arrested in attempted murder case
All three of them were brought to court from jail at around 9:45am. At 10:30am, they were placed before the court.
Former law minister Anisul Huq, former education minister Dipu Moni, and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman have been shown arrested in an attempted murder case filed with Badda Police Station linked to the July Uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam granted the police plea to show them arrested this morning (7 January).
All three of them were brought to court from jail at around 9:45am. At 10:30am, they were placed before the court.
After that, the investing officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Golam Kibria Khan of Badda Police Station sought to show them arrested in the case. Following the hearing, the court granted the plea, confirmed state lawyer Shamsuddoha Suman.
According to the case statement, on 20 July 2024, the plaintiff, Md Durjoy Ahmed, joined a protest procession. While he was on the road under the Middle Badda U-loop near the Post Office Goli, shots were fired at him.
Both of his eyes were blinded, and he also suffered a serious injury to the back of his head. He later received treatment at several hospitals.
Over the incident, a case was filed naming former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 90 others.
Police previously arrested Anisul Huq and Salman F Rahman on 13 August 2024 from Sadarghat while they were allegedly attempting to flee by river.
And police arrested Dipu Moni in the capital's Baridhara area on the evening of 19 August 2024. She has remained in jail since her arrest.
