College student allegedly raped inside grocery shop in Rajshahi

An 18-year-old college student was allegedly raped inside a grocery shop in Rajshahi's Tanor upazila on Sunday (16 March).
The victim's father filed a rape case at Tanor Police Station yesterday (17 March), the station's Officer-in-Charge Afzal Hossain confirmed today.
The accused in the case are grocer Iqbal Hossain, 28, his father Ansar Ali, 65, and tea shop owner Abdul Malek, 60. All three of them are absconding.
According to the case statement, the college student was on her way to her teacher's house to get books in the afternoon when grocer Iqbal, an acquaintance of the student, called her to come inside the shop. When the student went inside, Iqbal's associate, tea shop owner Malek, lowered the shutter of the shop. Then Iqbal allegedly raped the student inside the shop.
When the incident came to light, Iqbal released the student from the shop in the evening. Later, Iqbal's father Ansar Ali sent the girl to her family.
The girl was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for a medical examination this morning, OC Afzal Hossain said.
A drive is underway to arrest the accused, he added.
