Cold wave affects green chili price in Bogura

A week-long cold spell has affected the green chili market in North Bengal.
In a gap of a week, the price of green chilis has jumped from Tk30 to Tk60 per kg.
On Monday, such pictures were found in Bogura and some surrounding towns. It was found at the Rajabazar wholesale market and Fateh Ali Bazar in Bogura city that green chilis were being sold at Tk60 per kg. On Sunday, the same chili sold at Tk80 per kg.
According to traders, every year the price of chilis increases slightly during this time. But this year, the price has shot up due to the cold wave.
Agriculture office sources are also echoing the same thing. They said that the chili price has increased due to the severity of winter. There is no shortage of chili cultivation.
According to vegetable traders, chili is a perennial crop. Apart from the plantations in Bogura, large quantities of chilis are supplied from other districts. But the supply of chili is disrupted due to prolonged cold spells.
