Bogura gets own RHD zone, ending Rangpur detour for five districts
The new RHD zone will oversee road development and management across Bogura, Gaibandha, Joypurhat, Naogaon and Sirajganj, bringing key administrative decisions closer to the districts it serves.
Bogura has received a new zone of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) to oversee road development and management across five northern districts, reducing their dependence on the regional headquarters in Rangpur.
Road, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the Bogura Road Zone at Char Matha in Bogura around 4pm today (8 August).
The new zone will oversee national and regional highways in Bogura, Gaibandha, Joypurhat, Naogaon and Sirajganj, including their construction, widening, repair, maintenance and traffic management.

"Important road-related work for these five districts will now be managed from Bogura," the minister said, adding that the zone would have responsibilities beyond supervising road construction.
Previously, officials from the five districts had to travel to Rangpur for various road-related administrative and development matters.
The new zone is expected to reduce that burden, speed up administrative decisions and facilitate faster implementation of road projects, officials said.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, Bogura-6 MP Rezaul Karim Badsha, BNP Acting General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain and RHD officials attended the inauguration.
Earlier, Shaikh Rabiul Alam inaugurated the reconstructed historic Fateh Ali Bridge and Shakpala Park in Bogura.
