UN chief Guterres warns of rising conflicts, climate risks, and AI dangers
UN Secretary-General António Guterres delivered his final address to the 81st UN General Assembly, outlining four major priorities: artificial intelligence governance, ending expanding conflicts, decisive climate action, and reforming international institutions.
Guterres called for stronger AI safeguards, urgent de-escalation in conflict zones, unhindered humanitarian aid and a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians. He also warned that global institutions are under growing political and financial strain.
As his decade-long tenure approaches its end, Guterres reaffirmed his commitment to the UN Charter and the pursuit of peace.
