Two crude explosive devices detonated in separate locations near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport last night (13 November), authorities said. No casualties were reported.
One explosion occurred in front of the airport roundabout's outgoing gate, while the other took place on the road outside the Xinjiang Restaurant in Airport Sector 1.
Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Airport Police Station, said officers arrived at both scenes after receiving reports and collected samples from the spots.
"No casualties have been reported," he said.
"We suspect the cocktails were thrown from the flyover. As a result, no one could be identified," the inspector said, adding, "We are investigating who carried out the explosions and for what purpose."
