City College, Ideal College students clash at Science Lab intersection

Students from Dhaka City College and Ideal College were locked in a clash at the Science Laboratory intersection in the capital's Dhanmondi area today (9 February).

Police brought the situation under control at around 5:30pm, said Jisanul Haque, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Dhanmondi Zone.

"Earlier, students of Ideal College threw bricks and stones at the City College gate. Some even tried to break in," he added.
Ideal College students claimed that three students of their college were stabbed by City College students and were later admitted to Labaid Hospital for treatment.
City College students, however, denied the allegation, saying students of both colleges clashed over harassment of two City College students.
Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman, assistant commissioner (Dhanmondi zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said a large number of police personnel were at the spot.
