Chhatra League leaders Saddam, Inan, Shayan among 128 expelled by DU

Three leaders of the banned Chhatra League—Saddam Hossain, Wali Asif Inan, and Mazharul Kabir Shayan—are among the 128 students expelled by Dhaka University yesterday (17 March).
The administration expelled the students over alleged involvement in attacks on protesters between 15 July and 5 August last year during the mass uprising.
Saddam, president of the organisation, and Inan, its general secretary, are students of the university's law department. Shayan, a student of the anthropology department, serves as the organisation's Dhaka University branch president.
The university syndicate made the decision at a meeting yesterday, acting on a report from an investigation committee.
The committee, headed by syndicate member Professor Tajmeri S Islam, was formed earlier to identify individuals responsible for the attacks during the July 2024 student-people mass uprising.
