Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Dr Nazmul Karim Khan today (13 February) asked everyone to catch any "devil" who came to Ijtema, in reference to the Devil Hunt operation ongoing in the country.

Speaking to journalists at the GMP control room near the foreigners' zone inside the Ijtema ground, the GMP commissioner emphasised a zero-tolerance approach to any disruptions. 

He also assured that the Ijtema ground in Tongi is under a robust security blanket.

He confirmed the deployment of 7,000 law enforcement personnel, including RAB members, along with 16 watch towers, 336 CCTV cameras, surveillance teams, RUPTOF, 35 binoculars, 20 check posts, and 35 mobile teams.  

'Operation Devil Hunt' to continue as long as 'devils' exist: Jahangir

Addressing the previous drone incident, the GMP chief warned that anyone flying a drone without prior permission from the commissioner will face consequences.

The government has launched 'Operation Devil Hunt' across the country in response to attacks on protesters by AL activists on 7 February.

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury had reiterated that the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt' carried by joint forces will continue as long as the devils exist.

As many as 2,865 people have been arrested under Operation Devil Hunt in last four days.
