BNP wins 4 seats, Jamaat secures 1 in Gazipur
The results were officially announced this morning (13 February) by Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md Alam Hossain.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has secured four out of five parliamentary seats in Gazipur district in the 13th National Parliament election, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won in one constituency.
The results were officially announced this morning (13 February) by Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md Alam Hossain.
In Gazipur-1, BNP candidate Md Mujibur Rahman won the race with 208,688 votes under the paddy sheaf symbol. His closest rival, Jamaat-nominated Md Shah Alam Bakshi, secured 149,453 votes with the scales symbol. The constituency recorded a 53.02% turnout among its 720,937 registered voters.
In Gazipur-2, the number of voters was 804,333, and BNP candidate M Manjurul Karim Rony elected with 188,606 votes. His nearest competitor, National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Ali Naser Khan, received 140,950 votes. Voter turnout in the constituency stood at 44.69%.
In Gazipur-3, BNP nominee Dr SM Rafiqul Islam Bacchu won with 162,343 votes. Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish candidate Md Ahsanul Haque finished second with 100,539 votes. The seat has 527,369 voters, and turnout was recorded at 57.64%.
Jamaat-e-Islami secured victory in Gazipur-4, Salahuddin Aiyubi received 101,779 votes. BNP candidate Shah Riazul Hannan obtained 90,390 votes. The constituency has 330,977 registered voters, with a turnout of 61.65%.
In Gazipur-5, BNP's AKM Fazlul Haque Milon was elected with 133,869 votes, defeating Jamaat candidate Md Khairul Hasan, who secured 78,123 votes. The seat has 363,643 voters, and 64.83%.
Additional deputy commissioners, assistant returning officers, senior officials, and the winning candidates were present during the result announcement at the returning officer's office.
