The home adviser said seizure of firearms is not up to the mark of expectation, but it will increase in the days ahead

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today reiterated that the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt' carried by joint forces will continue as long as the devils exist.

"As long as the devils exist, the 'Operation Devil Hunt' will continue," he said replying to a question after coming out of the 45th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at Ansar-VDP Academy at Safipur here.

Asked about the seizure of illegal firearms during the operation, he said the seizure of firearms is not up to the mark of expectation, but it will increase in the days ahead.

"It's not quite as much as you expected. But, the seizure will increase slowly," he said.

About the implementation of the demands of the Ansar, he said that the government is considering their logical demands with utmost importance.

The home adviser recalled the contribution of the Ansar with gratitude after the August 5 changeover in maintaining the country's law and order, saying, "All should thank the Ansar for their role."

He said the Ansar and VDP are playing an important role in building the nation alongside helping maintain the law and order across the country.

Earlier in the morning, the adviser addressed as the chief guest 45th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at Ansar-VDP Academy, Safipur, Gazipur.

At the function, he presented medals to 18 officers, employees and other ranks of the Ansar and VDP in recognition of their commendable work.

A total of 156 people, including officers, and employees of the force have received medals in service and bravery categories.

Later, the adviser planted trees on the Ansar Academy premises, participated in a photo session and visited the cottage industry exhibition.

Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani attended the function as the special guest.

Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Director General (DG) Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud presided over the function.
