Listening to CA Yunus felt like hearing Ziaur Rahman: Fakhrul
'The dream that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had – to build Bangladesh into a democratic, prosperous and corruption-free nation – was echoed in Professor Yunus’s speech at that event,' says Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has drawn a striking parallel between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and late president Ziaur Rahman.
Speaking at an event titled NRB Connect Day in New York yesterday (27 September), Fakhrul said when Yunus was speaking a few days ago at a US-Banglades business roundtable, "it repeatedly felt to me as if I was listening to the voice of Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of our independence."
"The dream that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had – to build Bangladesh into a democratic, prosperous and corruption-free nation – was echoed in Professor Yunus's speech at that event."
Talking about the July Uprising, Fakhrul said, "We believe the people of Bangladesh are fighters; struggle is in their very nature. In any danger, in any time of crisis, they know how to unite and fight together – July has proven that."
Six political leaders, including Fakhrul, are accompanying Yunus in New York for the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
Bangladesh's political delegation also includes BNP leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Jamaat leader Mohammad Nakibur Rahman, National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen and NCP First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara.
