The newly elected mayor of Brahmanbaria Sadar municipality Nayer Kabir and the councilors took charge at the makeshift office on the road in front of the municipality on Thursday.

The municipality office, one of the 50 government and non-government institutions including two temples, had suffered severe damage in the Hefazat mayhem from 26 to 28 March.

Speaking at the occasion, Mayor Nayer Kabir expressed grievance over the current predicament and said "We are trying to resume the public service as early as we can but without the cooperation of all it won't be possible."
