Weapons, ammunition, and cocktails recovered in Brahmanbaria and Munshiganj operations
The weapons and explosives were found inside an abandoned tin-shed house in the South Para area of Shimrailkandi.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have recovered locally made firearms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices during an overnight raid in Brahmanbaria district town, while a separate joint forces operation led to the recovery of a shooter gun in Munshiganj.
In Brahmanbaria, RAB-9 personnel from the district camp recovered two locally made one-shooter guns, 10 rounds of shotgun cartridges, and five cocktails during a raid conducted around midnight today (28 January) in the Shimrailkandi area of the town.
No arrests were made in connection with the recovery.
RAB-9 Brahmanbaria Camp Company Commander Md Nur Nabi said the operation was carried out around 12:15am based on intelligence inputs.
The weapons and explosives were found inside an abandoned tin-shed house in the South Para area of Shimrailkandi.
He added that the RAB bomb disposal unit later defused the cocktails, and the recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station.
In a separate incident, a joint forces operation recovered a shooter gun in Munshiganj's Gazaria upazila early today.
The firearm was seized around midnight from the Char Chashi area of Guagachia union, according to a press release. The release said the operation was conducted by the Gazaria Army Camp under the 99 Composite Brigade, following intelligence information.
The shooter gun was recovered from the residence of a suspected criminal, Mobarak Sarkar, who was not found at the scene during the raid.
The weapon was later handed over to Gazaria Police Station for legal action.
The suspect has been identified as an alleged river pirate of Guagachia union and a close associate of the Nayun–Piyas gang, described as a top criminal group in the area.
The Bangladesh Army said it remains committed to maintaining law and order in Munshiganj district and will continue operations against terrorism, sabotage, and illegal narcotics.
Local residents have been urged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp.
