Bogura set to become country's newest city corporation
Bogura DC Office will send the final report to the local government ministry for turning Bogura into a city corporation within 45 days after issuing a public notice on the basis of the opinion of the local people

The interim government has decided to announce Bogura as a City Corporation -- the 13th in the country.
A public notice, signed by Bogura Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hosna Afroza, was issued in this regard today (27 April).
In accordance with the notice, Bogura City Corporation will be formed with moujas of 21 wards under the Bogura Municipality in line with a notice issued on 10 April by the Local Government Division.
The DC Office called upon all to inform them if they have any objections in this regard.

There are currently 12 city corporations across Bangladesh. They are Dhaka South, Dhaka North, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barishal, Narayanganj, Cumilla, Rangpur, Gazipur, and Mymensingh.
Discussion of transforming Bogura into the country's next city corporation has come to light as the current DC of the district made the proposal based on the plea that Bogura has long been deprived of development following the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August last year.
The people of Bogura district, birthplace of the BNP's founder Ziaur Rahman, have long been demanding immediate steps to turn Bogura into a city corporation.
The Bogura Municipality was established in 1876. The municipality has the status of Ka category. The area of the municipality is now 70 square kilometres. The Bogura Municipality is larger than various existing city corporations.
