The incident took place at around 10pm at the Bhandari Girls' High School polling centre in the town.
The detainee has been identified as Nasirul Islam, secretary of Ward No 2 of Bogura municipal unit of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Mobile court sources said that 10 to 15 individuals had entered the Bhandari Girls' High School polling centre without authorisation. Acting immediately upon receiving the tip-off, officials conducted a drive at the scene and detained Nasirul.
A preliminary bond had been taken from the detainee.
Executive Magistrate of the district administration, Palash Chandra Sarkar, said that Nasirul is being questioned. Further legal action will be taken after consultation with senior officials.
Regarding this, Abdus Salam Tuhin, secretary of the youth wing of Bogura city Jamaat, claimed that their activists had gone to the presiding officer only to submit the list of polling agents.
