Govt appoints four special assistants to PM, two with state minister rank
Tanvir Ghani and Bijon Kanti Sarkar will hold the status of state minister.
The government has appointed four special assistants to the prime minister on a contractual basis, with two of them receiving the rank of state minister, according to separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.
As per the notifications, Tanvir Ghani has been appointed special assistant for investment and capital markets, Bijon Kanti Sarkar for Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and ethnic affairs, Shakirul Islam Khan Shakil for overseas employment in the Asia-Pacific region, and Saiyed Abdullah for youth employment.
The appointments were made by the prime minister under the Rules of Business, 1996, with specific responsibilities assigned to each.
Among the appointees, Tanvir Ghani and Bijon Kanti Sarkar will hold the status of state minister.
Tanvir Ghani is the chairman of Osiris Group, an Asian investment firm, while Bijon Kanti Sarkar serves as an adviser to the BNP chairman and is also the president of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front.
Shakirul Islam Khan Shakil, a former student and teacher of Bangladesh Agricultural University, is currently a faculty member in the Department of Microbiology at Oita University in Japan.
Saiyed Abdullah is a former law student at Dhaka University.
