Three people, including a police officer and a former leader of the Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal, were killed after a bus rear-ended a stationary bamboo-laden truck in Jashore last night (14 September).
The fatal accident occurred at around 11:00pm in the Bhangura Bazar area of Bagharpara Upazila on the Jashore-Narail highway.
The deceased were identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) Nikkan Adhya of Lahuria Investigation Centre under Lohagara Police Station in Narail, Akhtar Hossain, son of Ahmad Ali of Basundia area in Jashore Sadar, and M Jafar Ali, son of Abdul Majid of Vekutia area in Jashore town and former joint general secretary of the central committee of Swechhasebak Dal.
According to Tularampur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Sekandar Ali, a bus named 'Narail Express', travelling from Dhaka to Jashore, lost control and crashed into a bamboo-laden truck parked on the side of the road.
