BADC holds workshop on Aman paddy seed distribution strategy

A seminar titled "Strategies and Action Plans for Accelerated, streamlined, and full distribution of Aman Paddy Seeds for the 2025–26 Season" was held today at the seminar hall of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) headquarters.
Officials from field-level operations and various wings of the BADC headquarters attended the event.Md Selim Hayder, Additional General Manager of the Seed Distribution Division, presented the Keynote Paper.
In his opening remarks as Chief Guest, Md Ruhul Amin Khan, Chairman (Grade-1) of BADC, described the organisation as a vital asset to the country's agricultural sector. He emphasised that under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC has been promptly delivering the three key agrarian inputs—seeds, non-urea fertilisers, and minor irrigation services—to farmers across the country.
Speaking on seed quality, he stated that BADC-produced seeds are superior quality and widely preferred by farmers. "Farmers overwhelmingly trust BADC seeds and consider them irreplaceable in their crop production efforts," he added. However, he acknowledged that BADC alone cannot meet the full national demand for seeds, although the volume of seed production is gradually increasing each season.
The Chairman stressed the importance of accurately assessing seed demand, improving quality assurance mechanisms, and developing effective marketing and distribution strategies to ensure complete seed delivery. He also warned against creating artificial supply shortages. He called for all relevant personnel to act responsibly to ensure farmers can access quality seeds at fair prices without harassment across all growing seasons.
The workshop concluded with officials' renewed commitment to enhance seed distribution efficiency and reinforce BADC's role in supporting national agricultural productivity.
