ASK expresses concern over brutal killing of 3 of a family in Cumilla
ASK strongly condemned the killings, saying such extrajudicial violence — carried out without any legal process — represents a blatant violation of the rule of law, citizen security, and fundamental human rights

The Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has expressed grave concern over the mob killing of a woman and her two children in Cumilla's Muradnagar and has called for a swift, impartial, and exemplary trial of those responsible.
In a statement today (3 July), ASK strongly condemned the killings, saying such extrajudicial violence — carried out without any legal process — represents a blatant violation of the rule of law, citizen security, and fundamental human rights.
"This barbaric act is not only unlawful but also a gross failure of the state to protect its citizens," ASK stated.
ASK noted that mob violence has increased alarmingly in recent times. "From January to July 2025 alone, at least 94 people have reportedly died in mob beatings across the country."
ASK urged the authorities to swiftly identify and bring the perpetrators to justice through a transparent, evidence-based investigation and trial process.
Additionally, the organisation called on the state to ensure proper security, medical care, and legal support for the surviving injured family member.
It called on the government to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such violence and ensure public safety through proactive engagement by local administration and law enforcement.
"Mobs taking the law into their own hands is a sign of systemic failure and a grave violation of human rights," ASK said in its statement. "If the state does not take visible, strong action against such incidents, it will be held responsible for fostering impunity and disorder."
Earlier in the morning, three members of a family were killed in a mob beating in Cumilla's Muradnagar, following long-standing allegations of criminal activity and drug peddling against the family.
The deceased have been identified as Roksana Begum Ruby, 53, her son Russel Mia, 35, and daughter Jonaki Akhter, 25. Another daughter of Ruby, Ruma Akhter, 27, was critically injured in the attack.
