Bus torched in Mirpur after passengers forced off, driver and helper assaulted
Police suspect the attack was carried out by recently laid-off staff members of Alif Paribahan.

Miscreants set fire to an Alif Paribahan bus in Mirpur's Senpara area early this morning (3 October) after assaulting the driver and his assistant.
The Fire Service said it received information about the fire at 7:23am and brought it under control by 7:35am with two units from Mirpur Station, confirmed Duty officer Rashed Bin Khalid.
According to law enforcement sources, several men signaled the bus to stop in Senpara. After halting the vehicle, they beat the driver and helper, forced passengers off, vandalised the bus and then set it ablaze.
Police suspect the attack was carried out by recently laid-off staff members of Alif Paribahan. "Initial findings suggest an internal conflict among the transport staff led to the incident, though other disputes may also be involved," said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station.
He added that a case is being filed and the matter is under serious investigation.
When asked about allegations of gunfire during the arson, the OC clarified: "There were no shots fired. We investigated the claims and found them to be false."
