Fire at Chawkbazar brought under control in 2 hours
Seven units of the fire service took nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control
A fire broke out on the third floor of a three-story house in Rahmatganj, Dalpotti, Chawkbazar, this afternoon (1 December).
Md Saleh Uddin, deputy director of FSCD, Dhaka division, told reporters at the spot that the incident was first reported at 4:42pm. Within minutes, the first fire unit arrived at the scene.
Seven units of the fire service took nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.
Fire stations from Lalbagh, Palashi, Hazaribagh, and Siddiq Bazar also joined to control the fire.
The exact cause of the fire, possible damages or casualties are not yet known.
Answering a question on whether the building had any flammable objects, Md Saleh, said that there were storage units for lentils, bags and plastic, as well as a workshop inside the building.
