Akhaura land port to remain closed for 8 days during Eid

Trade activities at the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria will remain suspended for eight days due to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. As a result, import-export operations through the port will be halted from today (28 March) to 4 April.

Shahnewaz Mia Shanu, joint general secretary of the Akhaura Land Port Importers and Exporters Association, said, "In coordination with port and customs authorities, as well as Indian traders, we have declared an eight-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr. The holiday starts today, Friday, and will end on 4 April. Trade activities will resume as usual on 5 April."

The Akhaura land port is a key trade route between Bangladesh and India.
On average, goods worth Tk1.5 crore, including frozen fish, rods, cement, plastic products, cotton, and edible oil, are exported to India daily through this port.
