52 Sundarbans pirates, including four gang chiefs, surrender to RAB

Fifty-two members of four pirate gangs operating in the Sundarbans, including their four gang chiefs, have surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 over the past three days.

Among those who surrendered, 16 are members of the Boro Jahangir gang, 15 of the Dulabhai-Afzal gang, 13 of the Anarul gang and eight of the Aftab gang.

The four gang chiefs were also among those who surrendered.
The surrender took place as part of RAB's ongoing efforts to curb piracy and ensure the safety of forest dwellers in the Sundarbans.
Lieutenant Colonel Nistar Ahmed, commanding officer of RAB-6 in Khulna, said the operation and surrender activities are still ongoing.
He said detailed information would be provided later and that such operations would continue to control piracy and ensure the safety of forest dwellers in the Sundarbans.
