Flash procession of banned party: 3 Mohammadpur cops withdrawn for negligence of duty
According to DMP sources, evidence of negligence was found during a political procession of a banned organisation, when the duty officers were reportedly busy eating and resting

Three police officials, including the DMP assistant commissioner (AC) of the Mohammadpur zone under Tejgaon Division, Mehedi Hasan, have been withdrawn from their posts on charges of negligence of duty.
The decision was taken immediately after Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Nazrul Islam visited Mohammadpur Police Station following Jummah prayers yesterday (19 September).
The officials who have been withdrawn are AC Mehedi Hasan, Mohammadpur Police Station Inspector (Operations) Abdul Alim, and duty officer SI Masudur Rahman.
According to DMP sources, evidence of negligence was found during a political procession of a banned organisation, when the duty officers were reportedly busy eating and resting.
This was despite the DMP commissioner's clear directive that authorities of respective police stations must be held accountable immediately if any procession or rally of the banned party takes place.
Speaking on the matter, DMP Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman, a spokesperson for the agency, said, "For administrative reasons, AC Mehedi Hasan has been attached to the DMP headquarters, while the other two officials have been attached to the central reserve office."
Field-level officers of the DMP are under mounting pressure as flash processions by the banned Awami League and its affiliates continue to take place across the capital.
In a recent recording obtained by TBS, DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali is heard issuing a stern warning: officers responsible for areas where such processions take place will face punitive action.
