The accident took place around 3.30pm near Char Babla area in Kalihati upazila of the district.
Five people boarding on a truck laden with corrugated-iron sheets were going to North Bengal. When it reached near Char Babla area, another truck hit their vehicle from behind. Three of them died on the spot as the iron sheets fell on them, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Setu East Police Station.

Two of the deceased were identified as Shamsul Karim, 35, and Md Shah Alam, 32, residents of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj district. The injured were taken to Tangail General Hospital.
The bodies have been kept in the police station and will be handed over to their family members soon, the OC added.
