In the interest of maintaining public movement and order, all forms of public gatherings — including meetings, rallies, processions, and demonstrations — have been banned in several key areas of Dhaka starting tomorrow (18 May), until further notice.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued today (17 May), the restricted areas include Kachukhet Road, the stretch from Bijoy Sarani to the Chief Adviser's Office, and areas adjacent to Birsreshto Shaheed Jahangir Gate.
The ban also extends to areas surrounding BAF Shaheen College up to the Mohakhali Flyover, as well as Sainik Club intersection, Bhashantek, Matikata, ECB Chattar, and adjacent zones, the ISPR added.
Later in the evening, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also banned public gatherings in the same areas.
