29 Bangladeshis returning from Pakistani jails today
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen directly supervised the matter and gave government approval for travel expenses
Twenty-nine Bangladeshi nationals, released from Malir and Karachi jails in Sindh province of Pakistan, are returning home today following initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Besides, another eight Bangladeshi nationals, released from Malir Jail, will return to the country on Thursday with the funding of the ministry, said a press release.
These eight expatriates were legal workers on a fishing boat in Oman.

In May 2019, while they were fishing in the Arabian Sea adjacent to Oman, Pakistani Coast Guard held them as their fishing boat plunged into Pakistani waters due to strong current.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen directly supervised the matter and gave government approval for travel expenses including airfare considering their financial status to bring them back to the country as soon as possible.
The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi ensured the repatriation of the eight Bangladeshi prisoners through constant communication with the Sindh Home Ministry, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry and Malir's prison authorities.
The International Organization for Migration and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society co-operated in the repatriation process.
The process of bringing back the Bangladeshi nationals, detained in Pakistan, at the initiative of the ministry, was resumed on November 25 after a long period of almost 8 years.
Recently, five Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from Pakistan.
The ministry will continue its efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide.
