Two people, including a grandmother and her grandson, were killed and three others injured after getting hit by a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Moyna union under Faridpur's Boalmari upazila today (26 March).

The deceased were identified as Parvin begum, 40, wife of Aminul Rahman Molla from Hat Moyna village under Moyna union and her four-month-old grandson.

The injured have been admitted into a hospital for treatment, locals said.

Contacted, Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahamudul Hasan said, "We haven't received any complaint from the family of the deceased."

"We have been informed that the grandmother and her grandson have died. We will take actions upon receiving a formal complaint," the OC added.

According to locals, an easybike coming from Kamarkhali towards Boalmari ran over Parvin, her grandson and another woman named Junu Begum, who were sitting beside the road, around 12:30pm today.

At that moment, the easybike fell beside the road upside down, injuring the driver and his wife severely.

Locals first rescued the injured and admitted them into Boalmari Upazila Health Complex. As critically injured Parvin and her grandson were being transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, Parvin succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Parvin's grandson was also declared dead by the on-duty doctors at FMCH, added locals.
