A seven-year-old schoolgirl died after being hit by a BRTC bus while crossing the road at Kamalapur intersection in the capital's Motijheel area this morning (26 May).

The deceased is Roshni Pal, a first-grade student of Motijheel Government Model School and hailed from Patgaon village in Tongibari upazila in Munshiganj district.

She used to live with her family in the Manda area of Mugda in the city.

The schoolgirl was critically injured in the accident that occurred around 9:30am, said witnesses.

She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency department by her grandmother Rekha Biswas.

Doctors declared her dead at around 10:30am, said Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
