Three Jubo League leaders, who were arrested in connection with the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam, have been expelled from the party.

They are Jahangir Hossain, 42, convener of Ghoraghat Upazila Jubo League; Masud Rana, 34, president of Singra Union Jubo League and Asadul Islam, 35, Jubo League member of Raniganj Kashipari under the same upazila.

Dinajpur District Jubo League President Rashed Parvez confirmed The Business Standard about their expulsion from the party on Friday.

They were expelled as per the directive from the central committee of the party, Pervez added.

Pervez said the committee of which Jahangir was the convener was formed three years ago. As per general rule, the committee will not be effective after three months.

Even then, a letter was sent to the center with a recommendation from the DO of the local lawmaker for his expulsion as the party was disturbed with his terrorist activities. The district committee does not have the power to expel them. But he was not fired, said Pervez.

It is learned that Jahangir has been serving as the convener of Ghoraghat Upazila Jubo League since 2017.

Meanwhile, a joint team of police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested four people over the attack. The arrestees are, Asadul Haque, 35, son of Amzad Hossain of Osmanpur village under the same upazila, Jahangir Hossain, convener of Ghoraghat Upazila Jubo League and Polash, night guard of Ghoraghat Upazila Parishad. The name of the other arrested person could not be known yet.
