2 factories vandalised at Adamjee EPZ during pro-Palestine march, 45 detained

A total of 45 people were detained over vandalism at two factories at the Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj yesterday (12 April).
The incident occurred after workers were allegedly denied leave to participate in a "March for Gaza" rally in Dhaka.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tarek Al Mehdi said joint forces, including the army and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), quickly arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
The army later handed over the 45 suspects to the local police station for legal proceedings, he added.
According to eyewitnesses, in the afternoon, several hundred people were holding a procession in front of the Adamjee EPZ. At one point, a group of people entered the EPZ and attacked and vandalised two factories — Unesco BD Limited and Ananta Washing Limited.
Tarek Al Mehdi said, "While the attackers came from the pro-Palestine procession, it is not yet clear if the vandalism was directly linked to the march. Authorities are investigating whether any other motives or conspiracies were involved."
