Ivy put on fresh two-day remand in murder case

A Narayangaj court today placed former city mayor Selina Hayat Ivy on a two-day remand in a murder case involving last year's July mass uprising.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Moinudding Kadir passed the order after hearing a remand prayer, according to court sources.
According to the case statement, 36-year-old rickshaw puller Tuhin was shot dead during a protest on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Shimrail area of Siddhirganj upazila in the district on 20 July 2024.
On 13 September, the victim's wife Aleya Akter Mim filed a case naming 99 accused with the Siddhirganj Police Station, including Ivy.
On 9 May, Ivy was arrested from her city residence. Later, she was sued in several other cases, including of murder.
On 25 May, she was placed in a two-day remand in a case filed over the murder of garment worker Minarul Islam during the July uprising in Siddhirganj.
