Two killed, five injured in Narayanganj truck-CNG head-on collision

At least two women were killed and five others critically injured in a head-on collision between a truck loaded with gas cylinders and a passenger CNG auto-rickshaw in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj today (12 August).
The accident occurred around 3pm in the Karaitala-Taltola area under the Bishnandi union.
The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be known.
Officer-in-Charge of Araihazar Police Station, Khandakar Nasir Uddin, confirmed the fatalities and said the two female passengers were killed on the spot and five others were seriously injured.
"The truck involved in the crash has been seized, but the driver fled the scene and remains at large," he added.
Quoting eyewitnesses, police said the CNG auto-rickshaw was on the way from Madanpur to the Bishnandi ferry terminal when it collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction.
Traffic movement along the road was halted following the incident, causing severe congestion on both sides of the highway.
Araihazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Sajjat Hossain visited the scene shortly after the accident. He stated that three of the injured have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while the remaining two were referred to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
"A legal action will be taken by the authorities after conducting an investigation," the UNO said.
