162 candidates finally included in 43rd BCS gazette

A total of 162 candidates, who were previously excluded from the 43rd BCS gazette, have now officially been included.
The gazette was published on Tuesday (20 May), signed by Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.
Since January, these candidates had been holding press conferences, human chains programmes, and hunger strikes demanding to be included in the gazette.
Most recently, from 29 April, several of these excluded candidates began a hunger strike, demanding inclusion in the gazette as well as formulation of a verification policy.
After a lengthy five-year recruitment process, the recommended candidates of the 43rd BCS were gazetted and joined their jobs on 15 January.
However, due to being left out of the gazette, 227 candidates could not join their positions.
The 43rd BCS circular was published on 30 November 2020.
After the preliminary, written, and viva examinations, on 26 December 2023, the Public Service Commission recommended the recruitment of 2,163 candidates.
After verification, 99 candidates were excluded, and on 15 October last year, the Ministry of Public Administration issued the first gazette appointing 2,064 candidates.
Later on 30 December, that notification was revoked, and a second notification was issued appointing 1,896 candidates from the initially recommended 2,163 — excluding 40 who were absent in the medical examination and 227 who were temporarily deemed unsuitable.
