Islami Andolan candidate Mufti Fayzul Karim warns against possible result distortion
He urged that voters be allowed to cast their ballots freely for candidates of their choice and that the results be published accurately.
Although the voting environment appears normal so far, apprehensions over possible irregularities remain until the final results are announced, said Mufti Fayzul Karim, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote at Rupatoli Government Secondary School in Barishal city today (12 February), he said people had long waited for the opportunity to vote and that the administration should ensure an unhindered environment for exercising their franchise.
He urged that voters be allowed to cast their ballots freely for candidates of their choice and that the results be published accurately.
"Whoever the people support, the true outcome should not be distorted -- that is everyone's expectation," he said.
Fayzul Karim added that while the situation may seem peaceful outwardly, the possibility of irregularities cannot be ruled out, and therefore, there is no scope for complete assurance until the final results are declared.
