Hannan Masud set to become youngest MP after landslide win in Noakhali-6
Hannan is among five Generation Z or Gen Z candidates set to enter the Jatiya Sangsad after securing victories in the national election yesterday, marking a notable rise in youth representation in national politics.
National Citizen Party (NCP) Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud is set to become the youngest member of parliament after securing a commanding victory in Noakhali-6 (Hatia) in the 13th national election held yesterday (12 February).
According to unofficial results and his election affidavit, Hannan Masud, born on 1 January 2000, is currently 26 years and 1 month old. With his victory, he will take oath as the youngest MP among all elected candidates in this election.
Contesting with the "shapla koli" symbol as an 11-party alliance-supported candidate, Hannan secured 91,899 votes. His nearest rival, BNP candidate Mahbuber Rahman Samim, received 64,021 votes, giving Hannan a margin of 27,878 votes, marking a decisive win in the constituency.
Hannan first gained prominence as a frontline leader during the 2024 July Uprising before joining the NCP.

Among the winners are four leaders from the NCP and one from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish. All 5 contested under the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party electoral alliance.
The successful Gen Z candidates include NCP Convener Nahid Islam, 27; Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, 28; Chief Organiser (southern region) Hasnat Abdullah, 27; and Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Hannan Masud, 26.
