BNP wins 8 seats in Cumilla, Jamaat and independents take 3
In Cumilla-1, BNP’s Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain defeated Jamaat’s Moniruzzaman Bahalul by 28,055 votes, securing 140,305 votes to Bahalul’s 112,205 votes
BNP candidates won eight of Cumilla's 11 parliamentary constituencies, while Jamaat alliance and independent candidates claimed the remaining three, according to final results announced by Returning Officer Sheikh Habibur Rahman after counting votes, including postal ballots.
In Cumilla-1, BNP's Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain defeated Jamaat's Moniruzzaman Bahalul by 28,055 votes, securing 140,305 votes to Bahalul's 112,205 votes.
In Cumilla-2, BNP's Selim Bhuiya won by 14,883 votes, receiving 76,268 votes against independent
M A Matin's 61,385 votes.
Cumilla-3 was won by BNP's Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad, who polled 158,093 votes, defeating Jamaat's Yusuf Hakim Sohel, who received 104,580 votes, by 53,513 votes.
NCP's Hasnat Abdullah secured Cumilla-4 with 160,081 votes, defeating Jasim Uddin of Ganadhikar by 110,023 votes.
In the Cumilla-5 constituency, BNP's Jasim Uddin won by a margin of 9,938 votes. He received 134,485 votes.
His closest rival, Jamaat candidate Dr Mobarak Hossain, who contested with the "Scales" symbol, received 124,547 votes.
Independent candidate Atikul Alam Shawon won Comilla-7 with 90,819 votes, defeating BNP's Redwan Ahmed by 42,894 votes. Cumilla-8 went to BNP's Zakaria Taher Sumon, who polled 169,278 votes, defeating Jamaat's Shafiqul Alam Helal by 124,187 votes.
BNP continued its victories in Cumilla-9 and Cumilla-10. Abul Kalam won Cumilla-9 with 168,108 votes, defeating Jamaat's Dr. Syed A K M Sarwar Uddin Siddiqi (Scale symbol) by 54,654 votes, while Mobashwer Alam Bhuiya of BNP secured Cumilla-10 with 161,847 votes, defeating Jamaat's Maulana Yasin Arafat by 45,697 votes.
Cumilla-11 was won by Jamaat's Syed Abdullah Md Taher, who received 133,308 votes, defeating BNP's Kamrul Huda (Paddy symbol) by 56,700 votes.
